Diablo 3: Auction House

    • Diablo 3 developers made this game very user friendly.  When a player hovers over an item in game, a tool tip box pops up describing the benefits / loss of equipping this new item.  The tool tip focuses on aggregating item affixes into three main stats: Health, Damage, Protection. It is a great addition to the game
    • When you hover over an item OUT of game though, either in the Auction House or in Chat, this tool tip doesn't exist.
      • Why?
        • Something to do with where the item's information is actually stored? No communication between AH server and game server? The AH will pop up your currently equipped item. Why not the stat tool tip?
        • Security concerns?
      • Engineers need to figure out a solution as players NEED this.
        • I think the lack of this tool tip is actually overemphasizing items with certain stats (vit, dex, str, etc) and De-emphasizing others because a user can understand the difference between 100 and 120 dexterity. To them (DH like me) it means more damage.  But they can't understand the trade off between 100 dexterity and 32% critical damage increase.
      • More Diversity
        • Confused users lead to less item diversity / less build diversity and funnels them into one direction of thinking because they aren't being offered a vision of different possibilities.
        • Increased diversity means more purchases on AH
          • Actual monetization of implementing this tool-tip
    • I would really like to know the cost / benefit summaries of why this tool-tip doesn't exist outside the actual game.
